Terms of Use
The short version. Veyl is an early-stage prototype offered free for evaluation. It works, and we are proud of it, but it is not yet audited, certified, or warranted for production use on real confidential data. Use sample or synthetic data, be reasonable with the free allowance, and understand that you use it as-is. When the production version ships with proper certifications, these terms will grow up with it.
1. Acceptance
By using projectveyl.com or app.projectveyl.com (together, the "Service"), you agree to these Terms of Use and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
2. Prototype status — no confidential production data
The Service is a pre-release prototype provided for demonstration and evaluation. It has not undergone independent security audits, penetration testing, SOC 2 examination, or HIPAA compliance review. Detection is probabilistic and will not catch every sensitive item. Accordingly:
- Do not submit real client, patient, or confidential production data. Use synthetic or sample data only.
- You remain solely responsible for compliance with your own professional obligations (including, for example, AICPA rules, IRC §7216, attorney-client privilege, USPAP, GLBA, and HIPAA) when deciding what to enter.
- Veyl does not provide legal, accounting, tax, medical, or other professional advice. AI-generated output may be wrong and must be reviewed by a qualified professional before use.
3. Free allowance and fair use
The Service includes a rate-limited free allowance that routes masked text through our relay using our provider accounts. We may change, limit, or withdraw the allowance at any time. Do not attempt to circumvent rate limits, automate bulk requests, or use the allowance for any purpose other than evaluating Veyl. If you add your own API keys, your agreement with that provider governs, and you are responsible for those costs.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to use the Service to violate any law, infringe others' rights, generate malicious code or content, probe or disrupt the Service's security or infrastructure, or misrepresent Veyl's outputs as certified or audited.
5. Intellectual property
The Service, including its design, code, and content, is owned by Veyl. You retain all rights to the text you enter and the outputs you generate with it. Feedback you choose to share may be used to improve the product without obligation to you.
6. Third-party services
AI responses are generated by third-party providers (such as Anthropic and OpenAI) and are subject to their terms. Hosting is provided by Vercel. The optional in-browser detection model is downloaded from a public CDN. We are not responsible for third-party services.
7. Disclaimer of warranties
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, ACCURACY, OR THAT DETECTION AND MASKING WILL BE COMPLETE OR ERROR-FREE.
8. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, VEYL AND ITS FOUNDER SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR EXEMPLARY DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, GOODWILL, OR PROFESSIONAL STANDING, ARISING FROM OR RELATING TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY SHALL NOT EXCEED ONE HUNDRED US DOLLARS (US $100).
9. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify Veyl against claims arising from your violation of these terms, including any submission of confidential data in breach of Section 2.
10. Termination
We may suspend or terminate access to the Service at any time. Sections 5 through 9 survive termination.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the State of Tennessee, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
12. Changes
We may update these terms as the product evolves; the effective date above will change accordingly. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
